Sailing Conditions

July can have calm mornings on occasion, but expect wind in the afternoon and evening. Winds come in from the SouthEast and roll across our shallow bay powered by the warming farmland to the West and North and a relatively cooler bay/Gulf. Expect steady breezes (in both velocity and direction) and short chop due to our bay's max depth being 13 ft. Great conditions for surfing downwind. No real current to speak of and depending on where the course is setup minimal shore effect, shore relief, or wind shadows.

Uber and Lyft operate in Corpus Christi and for short trips we have Lime and Blue Duck electric scooters operating in downtown and various parts of the city.

Local Knowledge (we'll add to this as people ask)

Our local grocery stores are called "H-E-B". The closest one to downtown is at 3133 S Alameda St. Corpus Christi, TX 78404

Our liquor stores are only open until 9PM and are NOT open on Sunday….sorry…plan ahead. Liquor stores sell beer, wine, and liquor.

Our convenience stores, grocery stores and pharmacy's can only sell beer and wine (nothing above 13%). They can sell until midnight during the week and 1 am

on Saturday night. They can't sell on Sunday morning until after noon.

Bars may stay open and continue to serve until 2am. Some in downtown do close before that. CCYC's bar usually closes around 10pm, but sometimes earlier if it's quiet.

Late night food options in downtown can be limited. The Exchange keeps their kitchen open late for food. Whataburger (Texas burger chain) is open 24/7.
